Birkbeck History, Classics and Archaeology Graduate Research Symposium (GRS)

Doctoral Candidates are invited to present their work at the Graduate Research Symposium (GRS). The GRS is a friendly and supportive environment to practise presentation skills, get feedback from colleagues, and meet students and faculty in the department.
The conveners are seeking papers for two submission categories:
1. Chapter Section or Conference Paper
A 20-minute presentation as part of a 2-3 paper panel followed by 10-15 minutes for questions. *Presenting at the GRS counts towards a candidate’s Upgrade requirements.
2. Research Overview – First Year Doctoral Students
A 10-minute talk outlining the intended doctoral research as part of a 2-4 paper panel followed by 10-15 minutes for questions.
Please send proposals to Seán Newman (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Caitlin Cunningham (email@example.com). For 20-minute presentations, please include a paper title, thesis topic, supervisor’s name, and a 250-word (maximum) abstract. For 10-minute presentations, please include thesis topic, supervisor’s name, and a few sentences on the research. General enquiries and comments should also be sent to Seán and Caitlin. The deadline for GRS submissions is Tuesday 13 February 2018.
