The UCL Department of Greek and Latin is pleased to announce that the Lyceum Classics Community Seminar will run in the Autum Term. We would like to invite postgraduate students from any department to speak on any topic related to the ancient world – literature, philosophy, language, history, archaeology, reception, law, etc.
The seminar will run on Wednesdays at 4pm in Gordon House G09 during the term. It is very informal, with tea, coffee, and cake provided. Many students use the seminar as an opportunity to practise a conference paper, present work-in-progress, or simply get some experience in giving an academic presentation in a friendly environment. The seminar is aimed at postgraduate students, and staff may only attend at the discretion of the speaker (which makes it ideal for those nervous about public speaking!) Speakers usually present for 20-30 minutes, followed by questions and discussion. Facilities are available for PowerPoint presentations and handouts can be printed.
The Autum Term runs from 25 September to 15 December 2017. Reading week (no seminar): 8 November.
MA and PhD students who wish to speak are encouraged to email the organiser Manuela Irarrázabal at email@example.com with their preferred date, along with a rough idea of their potential topic. Anyone with further questions should also feel free to email.
Deadline for submissions Friday 25 August 2017.
