This introduction to public engagement for post-graduates will be an active exploration of public engagement and how it relates to your research. Participants will guided through developing a public enagement activity, and will come away with plenty of ideas and tools for how to incorporate public engagement within their research. There is no charge for Birkbeck research students in SSHP or Arts.
Training will be co-delievered by Birkbeck’s Public Engagement Officer, Mary-Clare Hallsworth, and Dr Steve Cross. Steve is a Wellcome Trust Engagement Fellow, an Honorary Fellow of the British Science Association, chair of the Royal Society of Biology’s Science Communication Awards, a trustee of At-Bristol and a founder of the Future of Museums network. He has 7 years’ experience as Head of Public Engagement at UCL and also works as a stand-up comedian.
