Purpose and Main Duties
Birkbeck’s School of English and Humanities is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Administrator to work closely with academic and other administrative staff in supporting the activities of the Leverhulme-funded research network ‘Pilgrim Libraries’ (PI Professor Anthony Bale).
You will be responsible for organising conferences, symposia and seminar services and arranging publicity for events, as well as building and maintaining a list of contacts and a database of manuscripts. You will also oversee travel arrangements for speakers, coordinate the Advisory Board and maintain accurate records.
You will have a knowledge of and interest in history, literature, religion and relevant inter-disciplinary areas, with previous experience of scheduling appointments with academics. You will also have excellent organisational and communication skills, with experience of working as part of a team and processing expenses.
Salary: Grade 4 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £9,815 rising to £11,139 per annum (this is 0.4 FTE pro-rata to the full-time equivalent of £24,539 rising to £27,848 per annum).
This post is part-time, 14 hours per week (0.4 FTE) and fixed term for 2 years. The salary quoted above is on the College’s London Pay Scale and includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area. The initial salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
