Call for Applications: Editorial Fellowships at History Workshop Online

History Workshop Journal and History Workshop Online (HWO) are seeking to appoint two Editorial Fellows to assist in the running of the HWO website.  These fellowships, valued at 3,000 pounds per annum, are intended to support the successful candidates to develop their own careers online and to gain valuable experience working as part of a journal editorial board.  Editorial Fellows would also be nominated to a non-stipendiary Visiting Fellowship at Birkbeck, University of London, and have access to library and IT resources there. Please note that the fellowship is taxable. The duration of the fellowship will be one year in the first instance, with a possibility of renewal for an additional year.

Duties and responsibilities: Fellows will be expected to contribute to the management, curation, commissioning, editing, and promotion of HWO. They will be given the freedom to commission (and write) their own posts within the mandate of the History Workshop ( Fellows are expected to promote HWO and its content regularly on social media, and to use social media to help generate conversations and new content for the site. Fellows would be responsible for commissioning and posting a minimum of one post per month. While there are no set hours, it is envisaged that the fellow should devote a minimum of four hours per week to HWO duties.

Eligibility: The successful applicants will be early career historians, in their final year of their PhD or beyond, and will not normally have a full-time, permanent academic post.  Fellows are expected to have a strong pre-existing social media presence and online literacy and a demonstrable commitment to public history, history from below and/or radical history. Fellows will normally be based in the UK.
