The next Graduate Research Day for students in Birkbeck’s department of History, Classics and Archaeology has been scheduled for Thursday 20 March. Graduate students are invited to present their work in progress (typically a chapter from their thesis, or a presentation for a conference), and all are welcome to attend and discover more about the research being produced in the department.
The time allotted to presenters will be approximately 20 minutes, followed by 10-15 minutes for questions and discussion at the end of each session of 2-3 papers. Proposals for panels are also encouraged. Powerpoint facilities will be available for use if needed and tea, coffee and snacks will be provided.
Feedback from previous events has been positive, and the day represents an excellent opportunity for students to gain experience delivering a paper and receive feedback on work in a relaxed and supportive setting. The event in Autumn term was well attended and provoked excellent discussion.
Interested in presenting a paper? Send your name, paper title, thesis topic, supervisor’s name and 250-300 word abstract to Simon Jarrett (firstname.lastname@example.org) by 3 March.
